Brazil gains access to new markets in New Caledonia and Uruguay

In a joint announcement on Friday, August 25th, the Ministries of Agriculture and Foreign Affairs celebrated that Brazil has gained access to two new agricultural markets.

New Caledonia, a French territory spanning numerous islands in the southern Pacific Ocean, will begin importing fish products from Brazil. Additionally, Uruguay has opened its market to Brazilian swine genetics.

According to the ministries, the distance between Brazil and New Caledonia, which exceeds 14,000 kilometers, comes to show the competitive edge and reliability of Brazil’s productive sector. This distinction is recognized in over 150 countries and territories around the world.

In the year 2022, Brazil witnessed a 15% growth in fish exports, reaching a total revenue of $23.8 million.

Regarding Uruguay, a long-standing Mercosur trading partner, the exportation of Brazilian swine genetics is expected to enhance the quality of Uruguay’s swine population. Although the sale of this particular type of product remains in its early stages, it is projected to make significant contributions to Uruguay’s swine industry.
