Cdial Halal, one of the main certifiers of halal products for the Muslim market in Latin America, ratified 30 new firms in 2022, twice as many certifications issued in the previous year. Out of this pool, ten belong to the animal protein market.

According to the company, in addition to Brazil’s firm position as the largest exporter of halal chicken meat, market sectors such as fish farming began to explore this niche’s potential and applied for certifications over the last year.

“There is an abundant market out there that needs our animal protein. Companies need to broaden their horizons and effectively participate in this market, which grows by the year,” said the director of operations at Cdial Halal, Ahmad Saifi.

Currently, animal protein companies represent 53% of the certifications granted by the company. Cdial expects to increase the number of certifications by at least 25% this year compared to 2021.

The halal certification process includes a rigorous analysis of all stages of the production chain, from obtaining raw materials to storage. With this work, the company ensures compliance with Islamic laws.

The certificate-granting company emphasizes that these products have become popular among non-Muslim consumers, as the certification is also a credential of quality and sanitary conditions. “Several countries, including Japan and Australia, have sought halal certification,” says the director.
