Brazilian beef exports reached 357 thousand tonnes in October 2025. This is the highest monthly volume since the beginning of the historical series in 1997 and exceeds September shipments this year by 1.5%, which totaled 352 thousand tonnes and had been the previous record. Revenue for the month reached USD 1.9 billion, an increase of 39.1% year over year.

The volume exported is 18.7% higher than in October 2024, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services compiled by the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC).

From January to October, beef exports totaled 2.79 million tonnes, with revenue of USD 14.31 billion. These results represent increases of 16.6% in volume shipped during the period and 35.9% in revenue compared to the first ten months of 2024.

According to Abiec, the performance keeps Brazil close to the 2024 record, when 2.89 million tonnes of the protein were exported, with total revenue of USD 12.8 billion. The record may be surpassed as early as November this year, if the current pace is maintained, the association forecasts. The results so far confirm the country’s leadership in global beef exports. Altogether, shipments reached 162 countries in 2025.

The main product exported is fresh beef, with more than 320.5 thousand tonnes in October and USD 1.7 billion in revenue, with an average price of USD 5.5 thousand per tonne. The item represents nearly 90% of the total volume shipped and 93.5% of total revenue. Next are offal and processed products. Fats, tripe, and salted meats were also sold.

United States
Even with the 50% tariff on beef, Brazil continues to export to the United States. There has been a slowdown in shipments since August due to the additional tariffs, but the flow has not been completely interrupted.

In October, sales reached 12.9 thousand tonnes, already at a faster pace than in the two previous months, when 9.3 thousand tonnes and 9.9 thousand tonnes were shipped, respectively.

“The country remains a key destination for Brazilian beef,” said Abiec in a statement. The maintenance of exports is due to the competitiveness and reliability of the product, the association said.

From January to October, sales to the U.S. total 232 thousand tonnes and USD 1.38 billion in revenue, an increase of 45% in volume and 38% in value compared to the same period in 2024, when 160 thousand tonnes were shipped, generating USD 1 billion. The results already exceed the total exported throughout last year: 229 thousand tonnes and USD 1.35 billion.

Markets
China remained the leading buyer of Brazilian beef in October, with more than 190.8 thousand tonnes imported and USD 1.046 billion in business, equivalent to 53% of the month’s volume and 55% of total revenue.

Next were the European Union (17 thousand tonnes/USD 140.4 million), United States (12.9 thousand tonnes/USD 83.1 million), Chile (12.7 thousand tonnes/USD 72.3 million), Philippines (12.4 thousand tonnes/USD 56.3 million), Mexico (10.1 thousand tonnes/USD 56.2 million), Egypt (12.1 thousand tonnes/USD 53.9 million), Russia (11.8 thousand tonnes/USD 48.6 million), Saudi Arabia (6.5 thousand tonnes/USD 34.7 million), and Hong Kong (7.8 thousand tonnes/USD 29.7 million).

From January to October, China remains the main destination, with 1.34 million tonnes (USD 7.10 billion), representing 48.1% of total volume and 49.7% of total value exported. In second place is the U.S., followed by Mexico (104.3 thousand tonnes/USD 569.4 million), Chile (104.4 thousand tonnes/USD 569.8 million) and the European Union (101.4 thousand tonnes/USD 824 million).

The markets that most increased their purchases in 2025 were Mexico (+213%), European Union (+109%), China (+75.5%), Russia (+50.4%) and the United States (+45%), demonstrating the diversification and strengthening of Brazilian exports, said Abiec.

Strength of the sector
Roberto Perosa, president of Abiec, said in a statement that October’s performance confirms the strength of the sector, the advance in opening and expanding new markets, and the balance between supplying the domestic market and exports.

“Brazil continues to expand its international presence with quality and reliable supply, the result of joint work between industry and government in opening new markets. But it’s important to remember that only about 30% of the beef produced in the country is exported, while the majority, around 70%, supplies the domestic market. This shows the robustness of domestic consumption and the balance between meeting Brazilian demand and consolidating our position among the world’s main suppliers,” he said in a note.

Abiec brings together 47 companies responsible for 98% of Brazil’s beef exports.
