Brazil exported $33.3 billion worth of food products to member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in 2024, according to the State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2025/26.
The result placed Brazil ahead of China, India, the United States and Turkey among the leading suppliers to this market.
The report estimates that the global halal food and beverage market was worth $1.53 trillion last year and could reach $2.06 trillion by 2029. The figures were released by Brazilian halal certification body FAMBRAS Halal.
Animal protein plays a strategic role
Poultry and beef are among the Brazilian products with the strongest presence in Muslim-majority markets.
To supply these destinations, companies must comply with religious and operational requirements covering slaughter procedures, raw materials, processing, storage and transportation.
Halal certification provides evidence that production processes meet the standards required by importing markets. Traceability systems, audits and digital records are also becoming increasingly important for verifying the origin of ingredients and compliance throughout each stage of production.
FAMBRAS offers certification for beef, poultry and processed products, among other categories. The organization has also included SIAVS 2026, Brazil’s international poultry and pork industry trade show, on its events calendar.
