Brazil exported 3,030 tonnes of poultry genetics in March, nearly doubling (up 93.7%) sales in 2022’s same month, according to information released this Wednesday (19) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). Products include day-old chicks and hatching eggs.
Exports revenue grew 84.7% in the same comparison, to USD 27.842 million.
In 2023’s first quarter, foreign sales of poultry genetics progressed by 92.5%, with 7,685 tonnes exported. Revenue reached USD 70.080 million, 70.3% higher than reported in the first three months of 2022.
Mexico was the leading buyer of Brazilian poultry genetics in March, with 1,719 tonnes, up 279%. Peru and Paraguay also stood out as destinations.
“Latin American countries increased their imports in March, surpassing traditional destinations for the sector, such as Senegal. Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and the European Union also made significant purchases in the month, reinforcing Brazil’s position as an export hub for poultry genetics, a high-value-added segment,” said ABPA president Ricardo Santin in a release.
