Brazil opens Mozambique market to exports of poultry genetic material

The Brazilian government has concluded sanitary negotiations with Mozambique, resulting in authorization for Brazilian exports of poultry genetic material (fertile eggs and day-old chicks) to the country.
In addition to improving the quality of Mozambique’s poultry stock, this market opening promotes the diversification of Brazil’s trade partnerships and the expansion of Brazilian agribusiness in Africa, offering future opportunities for domestic producers amid the continent’s strong economic and demographic growth potential.
With a population of around 33 million, Mozambique imported more than US$24 million in Brazilian agribusiness products between January and November 2025, with animal protein standing out among the main items.
With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 521 new trade opportunities in 81 destinations since the beginning of 2023.
These results are the outcome of joint efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
