Brazil proposes R$10.5 million for fender replacement at Port of Maceió

The Chamber of Deputies has received the National Congress Bill (PLN 16/25), which authorizes a special credit of R$10.5 million in the 2025 Budget for Companhia Docas do Rio Grande do Norte. The funds will be allocated to replacing marine fenders at berths 2, 3, and 4 of the Port of Maceió (AL).
According to the justification attached to the proposal, the intervention had been planned in the 2024 Budget, but the bidding process was only concluded in December of last year. In the message accompanying the proposal, the government stated that the work “is of a strategic and urgent nature” for the operations at Maceió.
The credit will be financed through the partial cancellation of budget appropriations that are not expected to be executed this year.
The bill will be reviewed by the Joint Budget Committee before being submitted to a joint session of the Chamber and the Senate for a vote. The final deadline for submitting requests for supplementary and special credits to Congress is October 15, 2025.
