Brazil secures new market access with 13 trading partners

The Brazilian government has concluded sanitary and phytosanitary negotiations that will allow new agricultural products to be exported to Argentina, Bolivia, El Salvador, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Venezuela and the Eurasian Economic Union.

As a result, the following exports have been authorized: pacu-caranha semen (Piaractus mesopotamicus) to Argentina; salted bovine hides to Bolivia; bovine genetic material to El Salvador; popcorn corn to Ecuador and the Dominican Republic; coconut seeds to Guyana; bovine genetic material and sugarcane seedlings to Honduras; habanero pepper seeds to Nicaragua; castor bean seeds to Paraguay; passion fruit seeds to Venezuela; fish, ruminant and other animal meals and fats, as well as blood-derived products for animal feed, to Ethiopia; and fertile eggs to Nigeria.

In the Eurasian Economic Union, made up of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia, exports of Brazilian cashew nuts were approved. The bloc imported more than US$1.4 billion in Brazilian agricultural products last year, led by soybeans, meat and coffee.

With these announcements, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 639 market openings in 97 destinations since the start of 2023.

The results stem from joint work by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
