On Tuesday (June 10), Brazil’s Federal Revenue Service carried out the largest cocaine seizure at the Port of Santos in the past four years. More than 1.5 tonnes of the drug, bound for the United Kingdom, were intercepted. In footage obtained by A Tribuna, a sniffer dog can be seen alerting to the presence of narcotics inside the container, along with part of the seized cargo.

A total of 1,505 kilograms of cocaine were concealed within a shipment of 184 tonnes of paper, distributed across nine containers. Packs of A4 paper had been replaced with bricks of the drug. The shipment, stored on 394 wooden pallets, was intercepted during routine customs enforcement operations by teams from the Santos Customs Office, using scanners and sniffer dogs.

During Tuesday’s inspection, a detection dog from the Customs Office assisted in the physical inspection of selected cargo and alerted authorities to the presence of drugs.

According to export documents, the containers were scheduled to transship through the Port of Bremerhaven, Germany, with the final destination listed as the United Kingdom. Following confirmation of the drug’s presence, the Federal Police were called in to conduct forensic analysis and launch an investigation.
