Brazil Sets Historic Record for Soybean Exports in March
Apr, 08, 2025 Posted by Denise VileraWeek 202515
Brazil exported 14.68 million tons of soybeans in March 2025, marking the highest volume ever shipped for the month. The result represents a 16.51% increase compared to the same period in 2024, reinforcing Brazil’s position as the world’s leading soybean supplier.
This significant volume, concentrated in the first quarter, is primarily driven by China’s appetite to rebuild its reserves. The Asian market faced supply shortages in the early months of the year, and the record shipments made in March are expected to begin arriving at Chinese ports between April and May—a period when consumption typically intensifies in the country.
Another factor contributing to Brazil’s export performance was the recent escalation of tariffs between the United States and its main trading partners, which made Brazilian soybeans even more competitive in the international market. Given this scenario, the strong export pace is expected to continue in the coming months.
