Brazil ended 2025 with a historic record in exports to Canada, totaling $7.25 billion, a 15% increase from 2024. Data from the Quick Trade Facts (QTF) report, produced by the Brazil–Canada Chamber of Commerce (CCBC), show that Brazilian sales to the Canadian market reached their highest annual value since the chamber began compiling the ranking in 2018.
Brazilian imports of Canadian products also rose, up 13% to $3.14 billion. As a result, Brazil posted a trade surplus of $4.11 billion, the largest ever recorded between the two countries. Total trade flows, combining exports and imports, grew 14% over the year.
Canada’s share of Brazil’s total exports increased to 2.1% in 2025 from 1.9% in 2024, while its share of Brazilian imports also edged higher, from 1.06% to 1.12%. The figures point to a strengthening bilateral relationship in a year marked by uncertainty in global trade, driven by sweeping tariff measures imposed by the United States.
New All-Time Record
On the export side, the 2025 result was driven by strong performance in mineral extraction products such as gold, iron and nickel, as well as agribusiness shipments, notably green coffee and beef and pork, alongside manufactured goods.
Despite declines in segments such as aircraft, sugar and alumina, gains in gold, coffee and animal proteins were decisive in setting the new record. The animal protein sector, however, has faced pressure in recent weeks following the imposition of tariffs by China, one of the main destinations for Brazilian meat.
Brazil’s leading export to Canada is gold bullion, meaning raw, non-refined or non-industrialized gold. The product accounted for $1.35 billion in exports in the first half of the year, up from more than $765 million in the same period of 2024, according to the study.
Brazilian exports to Canada exceeded the previous record, set in 2024, by more than $900 million, confirming the acceleration of trade between the two countries.
“The 2025 figures show that Brazil has consolidated and expanded its presence in the Canadian market; the strong advance in gold, coffee and meats highlights the competitiveness of Brazil’s export basket, even amid economic uncertainty,” said Hilton Nascimento, chief executive of the CCBC.
