Brazilian cotton exports hit June record

Brazilian cotton exports reached a record volume in the month of June 2026. Shipments totaled 217,000 tonnes, up 63.4% from June 2025. Revenue reached US$350.6 million, a 64.1% increase year on year.

According to Datamar data, containerized cotton exports rose 24.3% year to date compared with the same period a year earlier. The monthly volumes are shown below:

According to Secex data released by Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, the result reinforces the strong pace of shipments in the first half of the year.

Bangladesh, Turkey, Pakistan and Vietnam accounted for 71.1% of all cotton exported by Brazil in June. Bangladesh led purchases with a 21.7% share, followed by Turkey with 17.7%, Pakistan with 17.4% and Vietnam with 14.3%.

Brazil’s National Association of Cotton Exporters, Anea, said the performance also marked a strong close to the 2025/26 commercial cycle. Despite a slower start, Brazil set monthly export records in seven of the 12 months of the crop year and gained ground in strategic markets.

Bangladesh and Turkey reached historic purchase volumes, while India more than doubled its previous record.

“Despite a slower start to the crop year, due to broad delays, Brazil managed to maintain high volumes throughout the period and set monthly export records in seven of the 12 months of the season: October, November, December, March, April, May and June,” said Anea President Dawid Wajs.

“It was a very strong season from start to finish. Even with a weaker beginning, Brazil managed to export significant volumes, break records in several months and gain space in important markets for Brazilian cotton,” he said.

Cotton accounted for 0.97% of Brazil’s total exports in June, ranking 17th in the country’s export basket. Within agribusiness, cotton represented 4.31% of shipments and ranked third.

Brazil also made progress in diversifying its export logistics. Santos remained the leading port for cotton shipments, but Salvador and other ports increased their share.

“Salvador has become an increasingly important port for Brazilian cotton. Santos remains dominant, but other ports are helping export the national fiber, which is positive for the sector’s logistics,” Wajs said.
