Brazilian Navy starts R$ 4.5 million patrol headquarters project at Santos port

The Brazilian Navy has begun construction of the permanent headquarters of the South-Southeast Naval Patrol Group Command at the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. Delivery is scheduled for May 2026.

The investment for the project is R$4,509,000 and was made possible through a parliamentary amendment from the São Paulo congressional delegation. Construction began on October 15.

According to the Navy, the new unit will feature a modern structure and cutting-edge technology. The objective is to enhance waterway traffic safety, protect the environment, and combat illegal activities at sea.

Details

The headquarters will include an interagency operations room equipped with monitoring systems for the port area. Among them is the Vessel Traffic Management Information System (VTMIS), which tracks ship movement in real time.

The implementation of VTMIS was made possible through a Technical Cooperation Agreement signed on June 3 between the Port Authority of Santos (APS) and the Navy. The system will be installed on Moela Island, in Guarujá.
