The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) signed a new agreement on Wednesday (14) to strengthen Brazil’s export strategies for poultry, pork, and eggs. The signing occurred at the newly inaugurated office of ABPA and the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (ABIEC) in Beijing, China.
The new agreement, signed by ABPA President Ricardo Santin and ApexBrasil President Jorge Viana, will increase the volume of direct business initiatives and enhance sectoral image promotion in global markets.
Running for two years, the project will expand its international trade show presence by 50%, from six to nine events featuring exclusive pavilions and participation from exporting companies, including strategic markets such as the Philippines. It also includes special initiatives such as inbound missions of buyers, journalists, and stakeholders to Brazil and international image campaigns during major global events like COP 30, the World Expo, and the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Additional promotional campaigns and activities are also planned under the new agreement.
“The new agreement brings a broader range of actions and a strategic expansion in business promotion that is expected to impact Brazilian exports directly. The inclusion of new target markets also reflects the project’s maturity, which now aims at broader spheres of activity,” explains Isis Sardella, the project manager and head of marketing and trade promotion at ABPA.
The previous agreement, which lasted for a year and a half and included six international trade show appearances, generated US$3.9 billion in follow-up business. Brazilian poultry, pork, and egg exports totaled US$820 million directly during events such as Anuga (Germany), SIAL Paris, Gulfood, and SIAL China. The agreement also featured sectoral image campaigns emphasizing women’s roles in industry development and reinforcing sustainability initiatives.
“This agreement is expected to help Brazil reach new export business levels, which already show record-breaking signs for this year. It aligns with a new phase in Brazil’s strategy for promoting animal protein, with new markets, new structures, and the expectation of generating increased foreign exchange earnings for the poultry, pork, and egg sectors and their producing communities,” highlights ABPA President Ricardo Santin.
New Office in Beijing—The agreement was signed during the inauguration of the new ABPA and ABIEC office in Beijing, which was supported by ApexBrasil.
The opening ceremony, led by Santin, Viana, and ABIEC President Roberto Perosa, was attended by several Brazilian authorities, including the Secretary for International Relations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, Luís Rua; Secretary of Agricultural Defense, Carlos Goulart; Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Development, Industry, and Trade, Márcio Rosa; and Brazil’s Ambassador to China, Marcos Galvão.
On the occasion, ABPA and ABIEC also signed a memorandum of understanding with ApexBrasil and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock to strengthen initiatives to promote Brazilian animal protein exports.
