Brazilian agribusiness exports reached USD 15.6 billion in July, the highest amount ever recorded for the month in the historical series. The data was released this Tuesday (August 12) by the Ministry of Agriculture. According to the Ministry, revenue from the sale of agricultural products increased 1.5% compared to July 2024, driven by both a rise in export volume and higher prices.
As usual, soybeans were a highlight in July, setting records in both value and volume exported for the month. Sales of soybeans in grain totaled USD 5 billion, representing a 1.2% increase compared to July 2024. A total of 12.3 million tonnes were exported, a 9% increase.
Here is a historical overview of Brazilian soybean exports starting from January 2022. The chart was prepared using data from DataLiner:

“The export value would have been higher if not for the drop in average export prices, which fell from USD 441 per tonne in July 2024 to USD 410 per tonne in July 2025,” the Ministry of Agriculture noted in a statement.
Brazilian products, which were affected by the 50% tariff hike announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, also performed well last month. Beef exports, for instance, reached USD 1.54 billion (+46.9%) and 276.9 thousand tonnes (+16.7%), both record figures, boosted by sales to China.
As for green coffee, external sales surpassed the USD 1 billion mark for the first time, representing a 25.4% increase compared to July 2024. The Ministry attributed this growth to higher international prices. However, the volume exported fell 20.4%, to 161.1 thousand tonnes.
Sales to the U.S.
The U.S. president’s announcement that Brazilian products would be taxed was not enough to halt the rise in sales to the country. According to the Ministry, despite the instability caused by the tariff announcements, shipments to the United States increased 13.9% when comparing July 2024 to July 2025.
Brazil traded USD 1.06 billion with the U.S. last month, accounting for 6.8% of total Brazilian agribusiness exports. The U.S. remains Brazil’s third-largest export market.
Sales of green coffee — Brazil’s top agricultural export to the U.S. — grew 5% in value in July compared to the same month in 2024, with 20.21 thousand tonnes shipped. In volume terms, there was a sharp drop of 31.7%, offset by higher prices.
Imports
Meanwhile, imports of agricultural products also rose, going from USD 1.7 billion in July 2024 to USD 1.8 billion in July 2025 (+3.8%). The Ministry highlighted increases in fertilizer imports, which reached USD 1.7 billion — a 21.8% year-over-year increase — and pesticides, which totaled USD 694.8 million, representing a 36.1% increase.
