Brazil’s daily beef exports rise 5% in September but remain down 32% year over year

Brazilian exports of fresh and frozen beef continue to pick up pace in September. Data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), analyzed by the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics (Cepea), show an increase in average daily shipment volumes compared with August.

So far in September, Brazil has exported an average of 9,792 metric tons per day, up 5% from the daily average of 9,319 metric tons recorded in August 2026.

Despite the month-over-month recovery, shipments remain below levels recorded in the same period last year. Compared with September 2025, average daily volumes are down 32%.

Beef prices remain elevated

While export volumes remain below year-earlier levels, the average price of Brazilian beef in the international market remains elevated.

So far in September, fresh and frozen beef has sold for an average of US$6,296.87 per metric ton, equivalent to R$32,365.91 per metric ton.

According to Cepea, the average price in reais is 7% higher than in September last year.

The figures therefore show differing trends for Brazilian shipments: exports are recovering moderately on a month-over-month basis, while volumes remain significantly lower in the year-over-year comparison. Export prices, meanwhile, remain above 2025 levels.
