The National Supply Company (Conab) reported in its August Logistics Bulletin that Brazilian fertilizer imports totaled 24.20 million tonnes between January and July 2025. The volume represents an increase of 8.86% compared with the same period last year.
According to Conab, 4.8 million tonnes were imported in July alone, compared with 4.1 million tonnes in the previous month. This result marks the largest purchase ever recorded for the month in the available historical series.

Market sources noted that uncertainty, coupled with rising fertilizer prices, has been influencing decision-making by domestic producers. “Reports that India is expected to announce a tender for urea imports could affect the global supply of nitrogen fertilizers,” said consulted agents. This scenario has led producers to postpone purchases, which could compromise input availability and affect crop yields, especially for the 2025/26 second corn harvest.
Between January and July, the Port of Paranaguá received 6.34 million tonnes, compared with 5.50 million tonnes in the same period last year. The Northern Arc ports handled 4.40 million tonnes, up from 4.26 million tonnes a year earlier. Meanwhile, Santos received 3.91 million tonnes, down from 4.03 million tonnes in the same period in 2024.
