On Wednesday (20), Brazil’s National Agency for Waterway Transportation (ANTAQ) approved a public consultation for gathering contributions, subsidies, and suggestions concerning the concession of the access channel to the Port of Paranaguá.
This marks Brazil’s first proposed concession of a port access channel. The proposal outlines a 25-year term, starting in 2024, with the possibility of extensions up to 70 years. The estimated Capex is R$1.07 billion, Opex is R$2.35 billion, and the gross revenue is projected at R$8.85 billion.
In his statement, the rapporteur, Lima Filho, emphasized that the public hearing is essential for interested parties to provide contributions and enhancements to the project.
“I understand that some issues require further reflection and maturation. However, I endorse the considerations that these issues can be discussed concurrently with the public hearing procedure,” he stated.
Details about the approval process and the contribution period will be defined shortly and published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU).
