Brazilian exports of soybeans, corn, and soybean meal are expected to close September on a positive note, according to projections from the National Association of Grain Exporters (Anec) released on Wednesday (Sept. 10).
The forecast for soybeans was revised from 6.75 million to 7.43 million tonnes, an increase of 10.1% compared with last week and 43.9% above September last year, when shipments totaled 5.16 million tonnes. Despite the upward revision, volumes remain below the 8.12 million tonnes exported in August, in line with the slower pace of the off-season.

For corn, the outlook now ranges from 6.20 million to 7.73 million tonnes, with an average of 6.96 million — up 9.3% from the previous estimate and 6.2% higher than total exports in September 2024. Anec cautioned, however, that logistical factors could trim the final volume shipped.
Soybean meal also gained momentum, with projections raised from 1.94 million to 2.11 million tonnes, up 8.8% from last week and 30.1% higher than the same month a year earlier. By August, cumulative shipments of the derivative had already reached 17.43 million tonnes.
Line-up data, which track cargoes scheduled at ports, show 2.27 million tonnes of soybeans programmed for shipment during the week of Sept. 7–13, a jump of 43.7% compared with the previous week. The largest volumes are moving through Santos, Paranaguá, and São Luís/Itaqui. For corn, shipments are projected at 1.94 million tonnes, up 19.7%, led by Santos, Barcarena, and Santarém. Soybean meal, however, is expected to reach 418,400 tonnes, down 13.4% on the week, with Santos, Paranaguá, and Aratu leading the way.
From January through September, taking into account this month’s estimates, Brazil is expected to export 102.74 million tonnes of soybeans, 19.54 million tonnes of soybean meal, and 30.10 million tonnes of corn. Including wheat, total grain exports could reach 153.9 million tonnes in the period.
Overall, September is forecast to close with 16.5 million tonnes shipped, an increase of 23.6% compared with the same month last year. Anec warned, however, that the numbers could fluctuate through month-end due to weather, logistical, and operational factors at Brazilian ports.
