The delegation of the Laguna Port to the Government of Santa Catarina will last for 25 years. This is the duration of the new agreement between the state administration and the federal government, which was signed and published in the Official Gazette of the Union last week. The new feature is that the structure will now be managed by SCPar Porto de Imbituba, rather than remaining under the responsibility of the head office in Florianópolis.

The agreement was signed with the Ministry of Ports and Airports (MPA) with participation from the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) and updates the original deal from 2020.

“The proximity between the ports of Laguna and Imbituba highlights the potential for complementary activities between the two ports, in line with the planning for this port complex,” the MPA said in a note sent to Agora Laguna.

The new agreement expands the scope of actions that can be financed with resources derived from the distribution of dividends to the concessionaire, in accordance with Antaq’s ruling. It reinforces the need for investments to be related to the improvement of port activity.

By phone, the president of Imbituba Port, Christiano Lopes, reported that procedures have already begun to link Laguna to the subsidiary. A meeting took place on Monday, the 25th. “We created a working group for the next 60 days to carry out this transition and outline the new management model for Laguna Port,” he said.
