Brazil’s Nortec to export raw materials to China and the US in 2022

Nortec Química, a Brazilian manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients, is getting ready to start shipping raw materials to the Chinese and American markets next year. The company’s president, Marcelo Mansur, told Valor that in 2022 the company should already have the first active pharmaceutical ingredient registrations for two analgesics in China. In the United States, he informed, the process is more advanced and three pharmaceutical ingredients have already been approved there.
“We have the capacity to export again soon. We anticipate the developments we were doing in the US and China, with products that we are in the process of registering and that are in higher demand,” he said.
The executive also pointed out that the costs of Chinese competitors are equaling those of domestic production, and the devaluation of the real against the dollar is another factor that makes the Brazilian ingredients cheaper. According to him, another factor that can benefit exports, mainly to the Chinese market, is the energy crisis in that country.
“It is very possible that there will be a stoppage in China because of the energy crisis. Many factories must stop and this must cause a shortage of medicine in the world. This can open up the market,” he said.
