Brazilian pork production reached 5.305 million tons in 2024, marking a 3% increase over the previous year.
The growth was driven by domestic demand and stable export volumes, according to data from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).
This Thursday (24), the pork production chain celebrates Swine Farmers’ Day, a date that honors the professionals involved in pork production in Brazil.
The country remains the world’s fourth-largest pork producer and leads in exports among countries free from African Swine Fever.
Domestic consumption has been gaining prominence, averaging 18 kilograms per capita over the past year. The diversification of cuts and sales channels has helped boost the product’s presence in the national market.
In foreign trade, the sector exported 1.35 million tons in 2024, generating around USD 3 billion in revenue.
Sales were achieved in over 100 countries, with highlights including China, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Chile, and Singapore.

For 2025, the sector aims to expand its presence in Southeast Asian and Latin American countries.
“The performance of Brazil’s pork industry is a direct result of the swine farmer’s work. With professionalism, efficiency, and a focus on sustainability, they have ensured domestic supply, created jobs in rural areas, and boosted Brazil’s competitiveness in the global food trade,” emphasized ABPA president Ricardo Santin.
