The Port of Maceió Authority announced this Friday (25) a significant increase in cargo throughput for the first quarter of 2025 compared to last year. According to the data, total cargo volume grew by 17.31% across solid bulk, liquid bulk, and general cargo, reaching 921,242 tons. In Q1 2024, 785,338 tons were handled.
Among the most notable products were increased imports of petroleum coke, fertilizers, sand, and gasoline, along with higher sugar exports in bags and bulk. These trends led to a 21.17% rise in solid bulk cargo throughput in 2025.
According to Diogo Holanda, Director of the Port of Maceió, the operational logistics provided by APMC, combined with strategic investments, continue to drive quarterly growth. “The Port of Maceió maintains a leading role in the development of our state. Thanks to serious work, a favorable legal environment for investment, a focus on logistics, and continued operational improvements, we’re seeing steady and highly rewarding growth each quarter,” he said.
