The productivity of Paraná’s ports between January and October reached 61,213,363 tonnes. This represents a 6.2% increase compared with the same 10-month period last year, when 57,633,026 tonnes were handled. The leading export products were soybeans (13,015,446 tonnes), soybean meal (5,517,043 tonnes), and bulk sugar (4,660,606 tonnes).
In container operations, shipments grew 24%, with more than 890 thousand tonnes departing through Paranaguá. Over the 10 months, containerized cargo totaled more than 7.9 million tonnes, a 4% increase. Frozen poultry accounted for 25.8% of container exports, reaching 2,270,587 tonnes this year—maintaining the Port of Paranaguá as the world’s most significant export corridor for chicken meat.

Regarding soybean oil exports, Paranaguá remains the national leader. By the end of October, the port was responsible for shipping 63% of all soy oil produced in Brazil, destined for countries that together imported more than 860 thousand tonnes. In the overall movement of liquid bulk cargoes, 8,025,092 tonnes were handled this year, representing growth of more than 3% compared to last year (7,799,610 tonnes).
“Everything indicates we will surpass the 2024 record of 66.7 million tonnes handled, since we have already reached 91.75% of last year’s total. Our goal is to close 2025 with more than 70 million tonnes,” emphasized Luiz Fernando Garcia, CEO of Portos do Paraná.
In October alone, the cargo with the most significant export growth was corn, totaling 3,547,433 tonnes—a 275% increase compared to the same month in 2024 (945,174 tonnes). “Our state’s production was very positive, favoring exports, coupled with the capacity of our export corridors, which operate year-round without queues for berthing,” said Port Operations Director Gabriel Vieira.
In total, 5,867,284 tonnes were handled in October, representing US$4.2 billion in FOB value (cargo value at the time of shipment), surpassing the previous monthly record. Exports accounted for the majority of cargo, totaling 3,552,621 tonnes. “We also see growth in soybean exports, mainly in grain, reaching 815,327 tonnes in the month,” Vieira highlighted.
Fertilizers Lead Imports
On inbound cargoes, fertilizers accounted for the highest volume, with 916,109 tonnes. The monthly result, however, was 18% below that of October 2024. Even so, year-to-date, Paraná ports remain the national leaders in receiving this type of cargo, with 6% growth compared to the previous year.
Paraná remains the main gateway for fertilizers in Brazil, accounting for just over 25% of all Brazilian imports. “We achieved very high efficiency. The projection is to reach nearly 12 million tonnes of fertilizers this year, demonstrating that our complex has adequate infrastructure ready to serve the market,” said Vieira.
Vessel Calls and Truck Flow
The number of vessel calls has already surpassed the total recorded in 2024: 2,341 vessel berthings so far, compared with 2,298 last year.
Truck flows at the Paranaguá Port sorting yard also increased: the volume is 22% higher than the total recorded in 2024. There were 444,177 trucks loaded with solid bulk such as soybeans and soybean meal, compared with 392,214 vehicles last year.
Rail traffic also expanded, with 17% more trains received over the last 30 days analyzed. Cargo volume transported by rail increased 33% compared to October 2024. However, year-to-date, there is a slight 1% drop in the number of railcars and a 0.4% decline in rail cargo.
