Cepea: Brazil’s coffee shipments decline, while revenue holds steady

Week 202633

The volume of coffee exported in the 2025/26 season declined from the previous season, while export revenue remained stable, reports CEPEA in its latest analysis. This was mainly due to persistently high coffee prices throughout the season, which partly offset the reduction in export volumes.

According to data from Cecafé (Coffee Exporters Council), coffee shipments totaled 38.46 million 60-kg bags in the 2025/26 season (July 2025 to June 2026), down 15.7% from the 45.62 million bags exported in 2024/25. Export revenue, in turn, reached USD 14.6 billion, remaining virtually stable compared to the USD 14.7 billion recorded in the previous season.

According to foreign trade data from Datamar, Brazil’s coffee bean exports reached 49,827 TEUs in the first half of 2026, down 10.8% from the first half of 2025. The table below shows the main destinations for these shipments and their respective year-over-year comparisons:

Global inventories remained tight, keeping international prices at elevated levels and supporting Brazilian prices and export revenues. In July 2025, export prices approached USD 400 per bag, a historically high level for the period.

Prices declined gradually throughout the crop year and resumed their upward trend only in June, when rainfall disrupted the harvest in Brazil. According to Cecafé, the average export price increased from USD 332.6 per bag in the 2024/25 crop year to USD 379.1 per bag in 2025/26.

In June alone, shipments totaled 3.06 million bags, up from 2.62 million bags in June 2025, according to Cecafé.

Crops in Brazil

Recent rainfall in major coffee-producing areas has become a challenge for the 2026/27 coffee harvest. Moreover, rains continue to affect grain quality, and roughly 30% of the crop is still left to be harvested, according to market participants surveyed by Cepea, leaving a significant share still exposed to weather-related impacts.

It is worth noting that coffee cherries that had already been on the ground since the beginning of the month were exposed to July’s rainfall, making them even more susceptible to quality losses. Even so, the full extent of the damage will only become clear as the lots are cupped, processed, and marketed.
