For every two kilograms of chicken meat exported by Brazil in the first quarter of 2026, one was shipped through the Port of Paranaguá, according to data from Comex Stat and the statistics center of Portos do Paraná. In total, the Paraná terminal—the largest corridor for frozen chicken meat exports in the world—handled 819,000 tonnes, accounting for 47.8% of Brazil’s exports of the product during the period.
Check out the track record for chicken exports through the Port of Paranaguá since January 2023. These stats are pulled straight from Datamar’s DataLiner platform:

Compared to the first three months of 2025, throughput increased by 15.4%. In March alone, shipments exceeded 215,000 tonnes. The main destinations for Brazilian chicken are China, South Africa, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates.
Beef exports also increased in the first quarter of 2026, with more than 25% of Brazil’s shipments handled through the Port of Paranaguá. The terminal serves cargo from various parts of the country, including northern states.
“Operational efficiency and the infrastructure for handling refrigerated containers make the port highly competitive,” said Portos do Paraná CEO, Luiz Fernando Garcia.
To meet growing demand, the Paranaguá Container Terminal has the largest reefer container plugging area in South America, with 5,268 outlets. It is also the only port terminal in southern Brazil with a rail connection.
In the first quarter, containerized cargo throughput at the Paranaguá terminal totaled 2.5 million tonnes across 411,000 TEUs—a standard unit equivalent to a 20-foot container (six meters in length). Of the total handled at the container terminal, 42% consists of refrigerated cargo.
