Chile confirms cherry exports to Brazil are ongoing as usual

The Agriculture and Livestock Service, SAG, reports that cherry exports to Brazil are proceeding normally, with no changes or issues, following the Brazilian phytosanitary authority’s detection of Brevipalpus chilensis in a shipment of just over 1 ton. Such findings are part of the routine work carried out by the National Plant Protection Organizations (NPPOs) during their inspection and control activities.

Preliminary information was received a few days ago from the Chilean Agricultural Attaché’s Office in Brazil, and SAG is awaiting official notification from the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA).

SAG continues to certify Chilean cherry exports to all international markets, strictly adhering to each destination country’s phytosanitary requirements. Therefore, trade with Brazil and other markets that import Chilean fruits and vegetables, especially cherries, remains consistent and unaffected.
