China Signals Willingness to Discuss Tariffs with the U.S.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, China is open to discussing tariffs with the United States as the world watches for signs of easing trade tensions between the two countries.
In a statement published on its website on Friday, the Ministry said it is assessing recent signals from the U.S. regarding tariff talks but stressed that Washington must “show sincerity.”
The Ministry stated that the U.S. must first be ready to correct its practices and remove unilateral tariffs to initiate discussions. It also warned that mixed signals from Washington could further erode mutual trust.
Beijing has repeatedly said that the U.S. must lift unilateral tariffs and offer equal treatment to engage in serious negotiations.
Tensions have escalated since the Trump administration raised tariffs on Chinese goods in April, prompting Beijing to respond with retaliatory measures.
