Colombia approved to export beef, pork by products to Brazil

As a result of the health work carried out by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), the National Institute of Drug and Food Surveillance (INVIMA) and the livestock sector, by products of bovine, caprine, sheep and pork can now be exported Brazil, according to a press release from ICA.
This was confirmed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply of Brazil (MAPA), after approving the proposal of the health certificate sent by Colombia. According to Brazilian regulations, shipments must be accompanies by a health certificate issued by the health authorities of the country of origin. Furthermore, the animals products shipped must come from animals born and raised in a country free of rinderpest and foot-and-mouth disease.
“2023 has been a year of great achievements with respect to the admissibility of our products to international markets; the opening of the Brazilian market for the export of bovine, goat, sheep and pig by-products is number 10 of those obtained this year, and we will continue working so that more and more countries enjoy products with optimal sanitary and phytosanitary conditions,” said ICA general manager Juan Fernando Roa.
According to the Ministry of Commerce of Colombia, the export of agricultural products to Brazil exceeded $1 million in 2022.
