The first part of the Bi-Oceanic Corridor, which will link Paraguay to the ports of Chile and Brazil, is already under construction. The Public Works and Communications Ministry of Paraguay (MOPC) expects that by the end of July the first kilometers will be paved.
The MOPC representative, Arnoldo Wiens and his technical team, visited the construction and base of the Bi-Oceanic Road Corridor Consortium that is responsible for the work. They checked the security measures, rooms for technical analysis of material, and living quarters of the workers during the construction of the corridor.
The Bi-Oceanic Corridor will transform Paraguay into a strategic axis on a regional level. The work will transform Chaco into the shortest passage between Chilean ports, especially that of Antofagasta, and Brazilian ports.
It will be one of the first constructions in the Chaco region to rely on the so-called “pasafuanas”, which are physical spaces that allow animals to cross the route without interfering with traffic. The project will require an investment of US$443m.
