Consultancy forecasts 1,365M tonnes of rice exported in 2022/23

Brazil’s paddy rice production is expected to total 10.941 million tonnes in 2022/23, 7% below the 11.795 million estimated for 2021/22. The data is part of the Brazilian supply and demand forecast by the consultancy Safras & Mercado.
Safras projects exports of 1.365 million tonnes in 2022/23 and 1.317 million tonnes in 2021/22, an increase of 4% between harvest seasons. Imports were forecast at 1.15 million tonnes, compared to 928,000 tonnes in 2021/22.

Total demand is projected at 12.365 million tonnes, down 1% over the previous year. As a result, ending stocks should decline by 17%, from 1.6 million to 1.325 million tonnes.
