A container ship collided with a fishing vessel on the morning of Monday, September 15, during a maneuver in the Port of Imbituba. No injuries were reported.
According to the port authority, strong wind gusts complicated the operation. In addition, a mechanical failure in one of the tugboats required a third unit to be deployed to assist with the maneuver.
The delay caused the ship to move beyond the planned area in the turning basin, leading to the collision.
The Port of Imbituba reported that the damage was limited to material losses, restricted to the fishing vessel involved and a signaling buoy, which will be repaired.
