The Ceará Port Company is trying to expedite the inspection of container cargo transported from trucks to docked ships at the Port of Fortaleza.
The number of scanners is increasing from one to three, with the additional devices being provided by CMA CGM, a company that has been operating at the Port of Fortaleza since April this year and is one of the world’s top three leaders in maritime transportation and logistics.
The use of scanners is a significant achievement, according to the CEO of the Ceará Port Company, Lucio Gomes. “We used to inspect 50 containers per hour on average. In the same timeframe, our capacity has increased to 175 units. Because all of them are scanned, this increased cargo movement efficiency within the yard. As a result, the Port of Fortaleza offers operational efficiency and security,” he stated.
The chart below shows the exports and imports of container cargo at the Port of Fortaleza between Jan 2019 and Aug 2023, according to DataLiner data – the maritime intelligence service of Datamar.
