Corn and beef exports from Brazil in the year through the second week of October have already surpassed the total shipped in the same month last year, data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) released on the 18th showed.
Foreign sales of fresh beef totaled 91,159 tonnes in just nine working days in October, compared to 82,187 tonnes exported in the 20 working days of October 2021.
According to the data, Brazil has exported about 10,130 tonnes of beef daily, up from an average of 4,120 tonnes per day a year ago.
Over the past two months, the country has seen record monthly beef shipments driven by purchases from China.
Corn foreign sales year-to-date (through the second week of October) reached 3.25 million tonnes, up from 1.79 million in October 2021, after the second crop’s total harvest.
