On Wednesday (May 7), Brazil’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) reported that exports of unground corn (excluding sweet corn) in April reached 178,347.5 tonnes—an increase of 169.6% compared to the 66,139.4 tonnes exported in April 2024.
As a result, the average daily shipment over the 20 business days of April was 8,917.4 tonnes, up 169% from the daily average of 3,006.3 tonnes registered during the same month last year.
According to Raphael Bulascoschi, Corn Market Intelligence Analyst at StoneX, these figures reflect the competitiveness of Brazilian corn in the global market, supported by a trade environment shaped by tariffs imposed by the United States and retaliatory measures taken by key partners such as Mexico, Canada, China, and the European Union.
Brazil earned a total of USD 48.919 million in revenue from corn exports in April 2025, compared to USD 23.802 million in April 2024. This brought the daily average to USD 2.446 million, a 105.5% increase from the USD 1.081 million recorded last year.
However, the average price per tonne of Brazilian corn dropped 23.8%, falling from USD 359.90 in April 2024 to USD 274.30 in April 2025.
