Costa Rica opens market for Brazilian Brazil nut exports
Oct, 02, 2025 Posted by Lucas LorimerWeek 202541
The Brazilian government announced that Costa Rican health authorities have authorized the export of Brazil nuts, both shelled and unshelled, to that country.
In 2024, Brazil exported more than US$272 million in agricultural products to Costa Rica, with cereals, flours, preparations, and the soybean complex standing out.
Brazil nuts, one of the main products of Amazonian sociobiodiversity, are sustainably harvested by traditional communities and are internationally recognized for their nutritional value. In addition to generating income and promoting regional development, the nut contributes to conserving the standing forest, strengthening Brazil’s image as a supplier of high-quality, sustainably sourced food.
With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 443 new export opportunities across 72 destinations since the beginning of the current administration.
This result stems from the joint efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
