DataLiner data shows Brazil’s reefer exports decreased to 48,809 TEUs in December, down 11.2% compared to November, and down 7.4% year-on-year. However, Brazil’s total reefer exports for 2018 reached 600,583 TEUs, almost the same as 2017. The Plate region’s reefer exports fell to 14,060 TEUs in December, down 3.2% compared to November, and up 22.1% year-on-year. Total reefer exports for the Plate region went up 11.5% in 2018 year-on-year, to 209,968 TEUs.
DataLiner data shows Brazil recorded a sharp decrease in tank exports to 2,731 TEUs in December, down 7.4% compared with the previous month, and down 15.3% year-on-year. For the whole of 2018, tank exports remained almost similar year-on-year, at 32,552 TEUs. The Plate region’s tank exports showed a significant fall, down 30.2% to 706 TEUs in December compared with the previous month, and falling 22.1% YoY. In total 10,173 tank TEUs were exported last year, up 14.5% year-on-year.
