Datamar, a leading provider of data intelligence for maritime trade in South America, is attending Intermodal South America 2026 with a focus on positioning DatamarLab as the company’s main innovation initiative.
Designed as Datamar’s strategic innovation arm, DatamarLab was created to become a center of excellence in applied research, technology development and talent training focused on cargo intelligence in foreign trade. The initiative aims to bring together science, data and technology to turn large volumes of information into actionable intelligence in a landscape shaped by logistics disruptions, rising competition and growing pressure for more sustainable solutions.
The lab brings together academic researchers and market specialists in a structure that combines methodological rigor with practical application. Under the leadership of Walter Teixeira Lima Junior, a researcher in Artificial Cognitive Systems and Social Robotics at the Federal University of São Paulo and a consultant to the project, DatamarLab aims to narrow the gap between scientific knowledge and corporate reality, a divide that still persists across much of the business world.
According to the researcher, the initiative was created to reduce reliance on imported solutions and promote the development of technologies aligned with the realities of Brazilian and South American foreign trade. The proposal also seeks to bring greater rationality to the use of artificial intelligence, avoiding generic approaches and prioritizing practical applications geared toward concrete results.
In practice, DatamarLab combines Datamar’s expertise in maritime data with advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques, along with a third core pillar: the integration of people and technology. Under this model, intelligent systems support decision-making, while human judgment remains central, especially in a complex environment such as foreign trade.
The initiative also positions itself as a platform for developing experimental solutions that can evolve into commercial applications, expanding companies’ ability to anticipate trends, optimize operations and reduce risk.
Another relevant focus of the lab is its contribution to the logistics sustainability agenda. Through structured data analysis, DatamarLab seeks to support more efficient decisions related to routes, infrastructure use and environmental impacts, strengthening companies’ analytical capacity in the face of growing sector challenges.
During Intermodal, visitors will be able to explore DatamarLab’s applications firsthand, alongside the company’s full portfolio, which includes solutions such as the DataLiner Report Module, Search Records, interactive dashboards and Company Profiles.
Datamar’s booth, G040, will feature live demonstrations and specialists available to discuss market trends and opportunities. The company also sees the event as an opportunity to strengthen relationships and expand its presence among clients and partners.
