Even with the steep tariff hike imposed by the United States, the third quarter of 2025 reaffirmed the strength of Brazil’s fruit sector on the global stage. According to Abrafrutas (the Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivatives Producers and Exporters), fruit exports rose 30.2% in value and 16.3% in volume compared with the same period in 2024.
Luiz Roberto Barcelos, the association’s institutional director, said some varieties — such as mango — posted surprisingly strong growth in shipments, including to the U.S. market.
“Despite the tariff hike, mango exports to the United States continued, even in higher volumes, which caught everyone by surprise. […] The good news is that they’re still buying — Brazilian mangoes are still on the American table,” he said.
Barcelos noted that other crops also contributed to Brazil’s strong fruit export performance. “Watermelon is one example — exports practically doubled, nearly a 100% increase — and melon exports rose 47%,” he added.
