Egg exports (including in natura and processed products) increased 33.5% in May, informs the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). In total, 628 tonnes were exported vis-a-vis 470 tonnes in May 2021.
The revenue grew 138.6% to USD 1.9 million compared to USD 797 thousand in May last year.
From January to May, Brazil shipped 6,188 tonnes of eggs, a figure 21.1% higher than the 5,108 tonnes exported in the first five months of 2021. As a result, there was an increase of 59.3% in revenue, with US$ 11.1 million in 2022 compared to US$ 7 million in 2021.
“The egg sector has been increasing its international presence over the last few years. The performance recorded in the first five months of 2022 is the best since 2016. In addition to generating foreign exchange for Brazil, the increase in exports is a countermeasure to the challenging scenario imposed by production costs,” says ABPA president Ricardo Santin.
