After being idle for 17 years, the Ilhéus flour mill has moved closer to restarting operations with the arrival of its first equipment shipments at the Port of Ilhéus. The wheat milling systems were delivered in containers and are part of the project’s initial batch of industrial equipment.

The restart involves investments of about R$120 million and has now moved into the operational phase. The facility will be managed by Grupo Maratá.

According to Bahia’s port authority, CODEBA, the project is expected to boost the regional economy through job creation, stronger logistics activity and higher port throughput, particularly from vessels carrying wheat.

The mill is expected to begin operating in July, creating around 80 direct jobs and 100 indirect positions. Output will focus on wheat milling and related products.
