Exports of Brazilian cosmetics grow steady from January to July

The Brazilian Personal Hygiene, Perfumery, and Cosmetics industry continue with a strong growth trend in exports. From January to July 2022, exports reached US$ 445.3 million, a growth of 14.0% compared to the same period in 2021 (US$ 391.1 million).
The trade flow in the same period totaled US$ 854.8 million, a 5.1% rise over the same period in 2021 when it totaled US$ 813.1 million.
The trade balance in the period had a surplus of US$ 35.8 million, reversing the deficit in 2021 (US$ – 30.8 million). Imports totaled US$ 409.5 million, a reduction of 3.0% compared to the January-July period of the previous year (US$ 422.0 million).

In July, exports reached US$ 64.1 million, an increase of 9.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, which resulted in US$ 58.4 million. On the other hand, imports totaled US$ 60.6 million, an increase of 9.4% compared to July 2021 (US$ 55.4 million). As a result, the trade flow in July 2022 reached US$ 124.7 million, an increase of 9.6% compared to the same month in 2021, where it closed at US$ 113.8 million.
Hair products were the most shipped item in July, accounting for $16.0 million, followed by soaps ($8.8 million) and oral hygiene products ($7.2 million). As for imports, fragrances (US$ 14.6 million) maintained their lead, followed by skin creams, sunblocks, and suntan lotions (US$ 13.0 million). Oral hygiene is the third most imported category with a total value of US$ 5.7 million.
