Brazilian Federal Revenue agents have found more than half a ton of cocaine at a terminal in the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo state, on Monday, December 27th. The cargo was destined for the Port of Le Havre, in France.

The narcotic was found after agents from the Santos Revenue Service and Customs selected a raw, unroasted coffee container to assess its load using various mechanisms, including scanner images.

A sniffing dog signaled the presence of the drugs in the shipment. In total, 561 kg of cocaine divided into smaller tablets were found amidst the load.

The seized drug was sent to the Federal Police Station in Santos, which will take the investigations over.

According to the tax authorities, in 2021 alone, nearly 15 tons of cocaine were seized in shipments located at the Port of Santos. No one has been arrested up until this point.
