The increasing demand for air cargo transport services to Europe has made the sector an increasingly profitable option. A good example of this trend was the performance of Azul Cargo, the logistics unit of Azul Airlines, in the first quarter of 2025. The highlight was the export of Brazilian fruits, which accounted for 99% of the cargo arriving in Lisbon especially papaya and mango.

On the route between Viracopos and the Portuguese capital, the volume of fruit transported by air by Azul Cargo rose from 1,130 tons in 2024 to 1,285 tons in 2025—a growth of about 14%. This increase was driven by the expansion of the airline’s network and the acquisition of new clients.

For flights to Paris from Campinas, the volume transported in the early months of 2024 went from 350 tons to 361 tons this year, representing a 3.14% increase. Most of this cargo consisted of avocado, fig, lime, and guava, which were distributed not only in Paris but also to other destinations such as Brussels, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt via the French capital.

With new Azul routes to Madrid and Porto starting in June, departing from Viracopos and Recife, Azul Cargo expects to expand its market and demonstrate how well-executed logistics for perishable goods reinforce the connection between Brazilian agribusiness and global consumer markets. In the full year of 2024, Azul exported over 7,865 tons of goods to Europe.
