JBS Terminais will invest R$150.93 million to expand and modernize the container terminal it operates at the Port of Itajaí, in the southern Brazilian state of Santa Catarina.
The funding forms part of a R$400 million bond issuance by global food group JBS. Of the total raised, R$216.76 million will be allocated to projects in Santa Catarina, with the Itajaí terminal receiving the largest share.
According to the company, the investment will be used to upgrade the terminal’s infrastructure, expand handling capacity and strengthen port logistics.
The project underscores the Port of Itajaí’s strategic role in Brazilian foreign trade and in cargo flows across the country’s South region.
JBS will also invest R$65.83 million in expanding its biodiesel plant in Mafra, northern Santa Catarina. The project will gradually increase production capacity from 1,025 to 1,370 cubic meters per day by 2036.
