Maersk suspends operations at the Port of Salalah in Oman following security incident

The Danish shipping giant AP Moller – Maersk reported that it has temporarily suspended operations at the Port of Salalah, in Oman, after a security incident early Saturday that damaged a terminal crane and forced the evacuation of the facility.
The company said that all crew members are safe and accounted for, with no impact on vessels or cargo. Port operations are expected to remain suspended for approximately 48 hours.
The disruption comes amid rising tensions in the Gulf, where recent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran have shaken energy and shipping markets. The situation has already affected maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery for global oil and trade flows.
The shutdown in Salalah adds to growing concerns over supply chain disruptions in the region, as shipping companies face heightened security risks and potential delays on key routes.
