Marfrig to certify Alegrete plant to export to the USA

Marfrig received a recommendation from the authorities to begin the process of certifying its plant in Alegrete, in Rio Grande do Sul, to export beef to the United States, the company said.
The unit is the fifth company to receive the recommendation, the second in 2021. In January, the Marfrig plant in Bagé, also in Rio Grande do Sul, was certified.
“The opportunity can open doors in other markets,” said the company’s export director, Alisson Navarro, in a note. The Alegrete plant has the capacity to slaughter 730 head per day.
In addition to Bagé, Marfrig’s factories in São Gabriel (RS), Bataguassu (MS), and Promissão (SP) are allowed to export to the USA.
