Market Opening in Mexico for Brazilian Products Intended for Animal Feed

The Brazilian government has welcomed the decision by the Mexican government to approve the model of the International Sanitary Certificate (ISC), which enables the export of products intended for the feeding of companion animals (“pets”) from Brazil to that country.

This opening represents an opportunity for the Brazilian private sector to expand its business in the “pet” nutrition segment, a market experiencing strong global growth. With around 130 million inhabitants and one of the largest pet populations in Latin America, Mexico is currently the second-largest market for pet products in the region, behind only Brazil.

In 2024, Mexico imported more than USD 2.9 billion in agricultural products from Brazil, with highlights including the soybean complex, animal protein, coffee, and forest products.
With this announcement, Brazilian agribusiness has reached 393 market openings since the beginning of 2023.

These results are the outcome of joint efforts by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
