Mexico fuels sharp increase in Brazil’s Paraná turkey meat exports

Paraná significantly expanded its presence in the international turkey meat market in 2026. From January through May, turkey meat exports totaled 6,000 tonnes, generating US$29.3 million in revenue, up 105.6% from the same period last year.

The performance consolidates Paraná as one of Brazil’s leading exporters of turkey meat and reinforces the protein’s role in the state’s agribusiness trade balance.

The figures are from the latest market bulletin released by the Rural Economy Department, known as Deral, part of Paraná’s Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply.

Mexico drives export growth

Mexico was the main driver of the increase in exports. Purchases by the country rose 272.1% year on year, making Mexico the largest destination for turkey meat from Paraná.

Paraná accounted for 25.5% of Brazil’s total turkey meat export revenue in the period.

Nationwide, Brazil shipped 27,800 tonnes of turkey meat from January through May, generating US$114.9 million in revenue. Export volume rose 30.7%, while foreign-exchange revenue increased 123% compared with the first five months of 2025.

In addition to stronger external demand, the result was supported by higher prices for fresh turkey meat. The average export price rose 55.9%, reaching approximately US$4,100 per tonne.
