Mexico greenlights poultry genetic material imports from Brazil

The Brazilian government has received authorization from Mexico to export poultry genetic material (day-old chicks) to the country. In 2023, Mexico imported more than US$850,000 worth of the product, highlighting the potential of this market for Brazil.

This new authorization adds to previous approvals for exports to Mexico of donkey and porcine pepsin genetic material, poultry oil, and fish oil intended for animal feed.

In the first five months of the year, Mexico imported over US$1.3 billion in agricultural products from Brazil, making it the eighth-largest destination for Brazilian exports in the sector. Key exports include products from the soybean complex, forestry products, and meat.

In 2024, Brazil has already opened 73 markets in 30 countries, bringing the total to 151 new markets in 52 countries since the beginning of 2023.

These achievements result from the joint efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
